The End

The words a couple never wants to hear "I'm so sorry, there is no gestational sac"

It's been a long past two weeks of receiving both positive & negative results from our IVF cycle.  Today’s final outcome at what was supposed to be the 6wk ultrasound is that we are not pregnant,  no gestational sac was found.  In all honesty, we’re devastated.  I cried during the ultrasound, but afterwards now feel numb and relieved to have the final result.   It was explained to us that what most likely happened is that the initial cells of the embryo started to grow and divide, but stopped shortly thereafter, which caused us to see positive results throughout.  I’ll never believe in a low HCG level again, we were congratulated by the Dr. last week and spent an entire week celebrating a pregnancy and due date of Oct. 24th that in reality …was never really ours to celebrate.  We told our parents, talked about names, downloaded a pregnancy app to my iphone, walked through a baby aisle at the store...all for nothing.

Moving on.   Planning to take a break for awhile until the time comes we decide to try a Frozen Embryo Transfer, of which we may decide to go through privately.  But for right now, very much looking forward to getting back to a life of normalcy away from infertility.   Goodbye injections (my ass looks like a war zone, seriously!), pills, appointments, blogging and researching.  Hello to my friends, hot tub, a glass bottle of wine, the yurt trip coming up, getting back to the gym, anything but this ordeal we’ve been submersed in for the last 6 months!

To whomever is reading this, thank you all for trudging through this with us.  Listening, checking in, praying, sending beautiful flowers, all of it.  I am so grateful to have such the amazing support system.
